National Award winner singer Iman Chakraborty has no time to respite. From Dev’s Bagha Jatin to Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Raktabeej and Arindam Sil’s Jongole Mitin Mashi, the singer already recorded songs for the Puja releases this year. Besides, she has been releasing a number of singles – independent, Rabindrasangeet, Nazrulgeeti, folk songs, and covers – throughout the year.
Iman will turn a year younger on September 13. Just before that, she had a gala lunch with a bunch of elderly parents at an old-age home, Navanir. The lunch was hosted by Iman’s production team and her students. “It was fun. We sang together and had lunch together. All the grannies wanted to enjoy monsoon's special ilish mach and my students organised that. I am delighted,” said the musician.
What will be her birthday play? “I love to spend my birthday with friends and family, including my pets. There will be a small gathering in the evening,” said the singer.
Iman Chakraborty bagged the National Award for Best Female Playback Singer in the year 2017 for her Bengali song Tumi Jaake Bhalobasho from Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta’s film Praktan. Ever since the singer has worked with almost all the leading composers, including Anupam Roy, Anindya Chattopadhyay, Bickram Ghosh, Indraadip Dasgupta, and others.
