IND vs SL 2023 1st ODI Live: Skipper Dasun Shanaka's 100 in vain, India win by 67 runs

Shanaka hammers a SIX down over long-on and that's the end to Lanka's innings. India win by 67 runs. Talking about the Men in Blue, they had put the game to rest with a mammoth 373. 

While the top order did not do much for Lanka, DDS and Nissanka tried their best to stabalise the innings. But Shanaka came in late and got a tremendous ton, but that only reduced the margin of defeat.

That's the hundred for Shanaka but it is not going to help them win, He, like most times in his career, was again outstanding against India.

Skipper Dasun Shanaka, who does not have stable partner to bat, managed to score 50.

This is his 4th ODI half-century.

The batter got too close to the ball and didn't get the elevation. He sent the ball over the infield and Rohit Sharma takes a good catch. 8th one down for Lanka.

Wellalage had looked to drive and gets an edge but the ball flew off the edge and Gill, who was at slip took it well. The batter departed for a duck.

The batter danced down the track, got under it but mistimed it. The ball went really high and the man at long-on took an easy catch.

The batter looked to pull but got a top-edge and found the man at mid-wicket. Axar back-tracked and took an easy catch.

End of a good little knock and Dhananjaya misses his 50 by runs. The ball had nibbled away late and Dhananjaya went fishing only to trap himself.

Was a short ball down the leg-side, and Asalanka who was trying to glance it away, gets a feather to it and Rahul takes a fine catch to his right down the leg-side. 

The batter doesn't bother reviewing it and starts walking back to the pavilion. However, UltraEdge later showed there was no bat involved and he should have reviewed that.

Kusal Mendis fails to read the movement and goes for a drive but the stumps have been shattered. That's a duck for Kusal Mendis. 

He is the keeper who had dropped Kohli earlier in the day. Surely it is not his day.

Avishka Fernando stands tall and tries to play the ball across the line, but it ends up getting a leading edge towards mid-off. Hardik Pandya settles under it and takes a pretty comfortable catch.

A massive total put up by the Indians, but Sri Lanka are known to fight back. The hosts were off to a great start as Rohit and Gill added 143 for the 1st wicket. Both made half-centuries and that set the tone.

Kohli came in and smashed a 100 helping add salt to the wounds of Sri Lanka.

A massive top-edge and Kusal Mendis calls for the catch and finally takes it. He had dropped Kohli and and even Shami early.
