India vs Sri Lanka

The new year of 2023 will see Team India begin their campign against neighbours Sri Lanka in the limited overs series. The two sides will first play three T20Is, followed by a three-match ODI series. The T20I series will begin on the 3rd of January with the first game scheduled to be played in Mumbai.

In the ICC rankings, while India is currently placed at the top spot, Sri Lanka is placed at the eighth position. In the last five outing against the Lankan side, India has won three while Sri Lanka managed to win two.

    IND vs SL: 160 all-out, India win by 2 runs

    Karunaratne and Axar had pressure on their shoulders. 4 runs needed from 1 ball. Axar Patel went over the wicket and darted it in. Karunaratne was not able to get under it and mistimes the heave to deep mid-wicket. He knew immediately the game was lost but Madushanka was looking for the second. 

    Karunaratne had his back turned to him and that saw Hooda throwing the ball to Ishan Kishan and he does the rest.

    Axar does it for India as the Men in Blue win by 2 runs. The whole team rushes towards Axar and mob him.

    IND vs SL: Rajitha Run Out!

    Rajitha sacrifices his wicket so that Karunaratne can stay on the crease. Karunaratne flicks the ball to deep mid-wicket and ran for 2 runs. However, Hooda collects the ball and throws it at the bowler's end. Even though Axar fumbles, there's enough time to recover and take the bails off.

    Shivam Mav gets his 4th wicket. The slower ball does the trick as he bowls it into the wicket. Theekshana skies the ball towards long-off where SKY settles under it and takes it safely.

    Shivam Mavi gets his 3rd. The partnership is broken by mavi and dangerous Hasaranga departs.A slower ball outside off and Hasaranga looked to smash it over mid-off, however, it gets off the toe-end and picks out Hardik right on the edge of the circle.

    IND vs SL: Has Hardik Pandya injured himself while taking a catch?

    Hardik Pandya has a smile on his face after he takes the catch, but is soon seen sitting down. His team mates are helping him stretch his right leg and the physio is also out there to check on the skipper. 

    Hardik walks off the field and Deep Dasgupta on air said, "Guess it is a bit of cramps". SKY will take over the leadership role.

    Talking about the wicket, Harshal Patel deceived Rajapaksa with a slower ball and the southpaw wanted to loft it over mid-off but ends up chipping it straight up, Hardik moves back a few yards and takes it calmly before going down.

    Harshal Patel, after being hit for a 4, got the wicket of Kusal Mendis. The ball was short and wide and the batter could not find the gap. Went flat to Samson who holds on.

    IND vs SL: Sensational catch from Ishan Kishan

    A sensational catch from Ishan Kishan with the gloves as the wicketkeeper covers so much ground and almost takes it at fine leg. The short of length delivery and Asalanka goes high off a thick top-edge as he looks to pull. Harshal Patel was close, but Ishan KIshan has the gloves, and he calls for it, backing himself to get there.

    Another similar over like the previous one. Gave a few boundires and then took a wicket. The full delivery around middle and leg, straightens a touch as Dhananjaya looks to flick it away. But the ball goes off the leading edge and Samson takes an easy catch.

    IND vs SL: Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel help post 162 runs

    Ishan Kishan gave India a good start by taking 17 off the opening over, but Sri Lanka came back and forced India to scramble for runs. The batters faltered under duress, but at 94/5, Hooda and Axar joined forces, and their 68-run partnership off of just 36 balls gave the hosts a total to bowl at.

    Not the start India were expecting after being asked to bat first. Half the side is back in the pavallion. 

    Given out caught behind and skipper Hardik Pandya walks back. Pandya attempted a slash but the ball has beaten him for pace, takes the feather before he could complete the shot. Clear edge and umpire raises the finger.

    The Neymar celebration is out as Hasaranga sends back set batter Ishan Kishan. The Indian opener gets low to slogsweep, however, does not get hold of it. The ball goes only far as deep mid-wicket where the fielder takes a simple catch.
