Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately. After his recent episode from India's Got Latent went live, it started receiving immense backlash due to Ranveer Allahbadia's 'watch parents have sex' remark. Several politicians and celebrities slammed the duo for making derogatory comments. Currently, the investigation against them is ongoing as several FIRs and cases have been filed against them. The new report suggests that Samay's request has been rejected by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. Reportedly, he asked permission to record his statement in connection to his ongoing controversy through video conferencing.
Samay Raina is currently in the US for his stand-up shows. His India's Got Latent issue has been under scanner and the investigating agencies have been following up with him to record his statement. Since he is not in the country right now, he informed the authorities through his lawyer that he will not be able to return to India before March 17 due to prior commitments. Hence, he requested to record his statement online, but unfortunately, it was rejected.
ANI shared the update on X that read, "YouTuber Samay Raina requested Maharashtra Cyber Cell to record his statement through video conferencing. Raina is outside the country right now and, therefore, made this request. Maharashtra Cyber Cell refused to grant any relief to him and said that he will have to record his statement in person. He has been called tomorrow, 18th February, to record his statement: Maharashtra Cyber Cell."
Recently, Samay broke his silence and dropped an official statement on social media. He said that he would cooperate with the agencies for fair investigation and also said that he deleted all episodes of IGL from his YouTube channel. His statement read, "Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you."
The controversial episode featured Ranveer, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid. During the episode, Ranveer was seen asking, "Would you rather watch your parents have s*x for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?" In no time, he started getting trolled on social media.
