Asif Ali and Antony Varghese-starrer Innale Vare released on Sony LIV hours before its premiere date on June 9. The movie, which marks the OTT debut of both the leading actors, is helmed by Jis Joy and also stars The Great Indian Kitchen and Malik actress Nimisha Sajayan as well as Jacobinte Swargarajyam actress Reba Monica John.

Innale Vare is Asif’s first direct-to-OTT release. The film, which also marks the fourth film between the filmmaker and the Kuttavum Shikshayum star, is also different from their recent collaborations as it’s a thriller. The duo had previously worked together in Bicycle Thieves, Sunday Holiday, Vijay Superum Pournamiyum and Asif also played a cameo role in Mohan Kumar Fans, which had Kunchacko Boban in the lead.

Incidentally, the thread of Innale Vare originated during a conversation with Kunchacko and Jis. The filmmaker had earlier told OTTplay that the movie is based on an incident that happened to Kunchacko’s friend and that he had bounced off the idea to Bobby and Sanjay, who developed it into a story. Jis has written the screenplay of the film.

Asif plays an actor in the movie, which has Nimisha as an Infopark employee, Antony as an IT technician and Reba as the girlfriend of Asif’s character. The film’s trailer, which was released last month, hinted that it revolved around an incident that happens to the actor, who is stuck in his career doing films that fail at the box office and wants to make it big. However, he gets entangled in an incident involving Nimisha’s character.

Sony LIV’s previous direct-to-OTT releases included Tovino Thomas’ Kaanekkaane, Revathy’s Bhoothakaalam, Joju George’s Madhuram and Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Churuli. All of these film had won awards at the recent Kerala State Film Awards. The platform’s previous two big releases were Dulquer Salmaan’s Salute and Mammootty’s Puzhu.
