Parthiban's ambitious project Iravin Nizhal was announced as a theatrical release on June 24. However, many Tamil films expressed interest to arrive on the same day after which its makers decided to postpone the release. The team has now announced through Dhanush's Twitter page that the first-of-its kind movie will hit the screens on July 15.
The tweet also has a new poster of the film announcing its release date. It features a world map and a chair on which Parthiban is sitting with a hat on his head. Iravin Nizhal, according to the actor-filmmaker, is the world's first non-linear single-shot movie.
Veteran producer Kalaipuli S Thanu has bagged theatrical rights of the project which has music composed by AR Rahman. Apart from the latter, Cottalango Leon and Craig Mann are other two Oscar-winning technicians who have worked for the movie.
The film directed by Parthiban has the actor himself playing the lead in it apart from Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Robo Shankar, Priyanka Ruth, Brigida Saga and Anandha Krishnan among others essaying key roles in it. Arthur A Wilson has handled cinematography for the film which has been produced by Caldwell Velnambi, Anshu Prabhakar, Pinchi Srinivasan, Bala Swaminathan and Ranjith Dhandapani.
The curtain raiser of the movie was launched by Amitabh Bachchan last year and its first look posters were unveiled by Mani Ratnam a few months ago. Though the project was announced more than two years ago, the pandemic spoiled the makers' plan with regard to its shooting.
Since the film has been intended as a single-shot movie from the beginning, the team had erected 50 sets on a 75 acre land in the outskirts of Chennai for its shooting. A rehearsal was planned by the team for almost three months before the film went on floors. Tamil movie buffs, who appreciated Parthiban's previous directorial debut Oththa Seruppu (streaming on Netflix), are eagerly awaiting Iravin Nizhal.
