Iravin Nizhal is one of the few Tamil projects in recent times which piqued the curiousity of film buffs ever since the announcement was made. The curtain raiser of the movie was unveiled by Amitabh Bachchan last year, which went on to impress cinephiles.
Touted as Parthiban's ambitious project, it was billed as the first single-shot movie to have been made in a non-linear format in the world. Academy Award winning technicians like AR Rahman and Craig Mann coming on board for the film escalated its expectations. The stills and promo videos of the movie had intriguing factors making the audience wait for the film.
It was released in theatres on July 15, and opened to decent reviews from critics and moviegoers. Many praised Parthiban's penchant for innovative ideas and novel execution despite its flaws. The movie opened to decent figures on its first day of release, and Parthiban came up with various ways to promote the film.
Iravin Nizhal later courted controversy when a few people criticized the filmmaker-actor's claim of the film being projected as world's first single-shot movie narrated in a non-linear manner. Though Parthiban came up with clarification multiple times, not every claim of his was convincing.
After a long wait, the film has now dropped on Amazon Prime Video. The movie was supposed to release on the platform more than a week ago, but it got postponed owing to reasons best known to makers. Parthiban took to his Twitter page to share the excitement of the movie's digital premiere.
But he also surprised his fans and other film buffs when he said that he was unaware of its OTT premiere today. He requested everyone to share their feedback after watching the project.
