Iru Dhuruvam is one of the Tamil series which movie buffs lapped up much before binge-watching became common during the pandemic. M Kumaran had directed the project which was billed as a whodunit starring Nandaa in the lead. Released in 2019, it is considered as one of the intriguing Tamil series with a riveting climax.
Cinephiles have been awaiting its sequel for a long time and makers recently announced its release by unveiling a trailer which offered a glimpse into the plot of the second installment. This time around, the story revolves around a dedicated cop who goes after a manipulative motivational speaker who is suspected to have carried out several murders.
Prasanna, Sai Priyanka Ruth, Abdool, Jeeva Ravi, Abhirami Venkatachalam, Linga and Ajit Koshy play key roles in the second season which has been helmed by Arun Prakash. Film lovers had expressed their excitement ever since makers unveiled the trailer and announced the release date.
According to the director, the makers have focused more on the emotional conflicts of the protagonist this time as compared to the suspense-filled episodes in the first instalment. The 10-episode series is likely to culminate with an open ending so as to leave an option to make its third season.
Iru Dhuruvam 2 will drop on SonyLIV on February 24; the OTT platform has started releasing promo videos. Sameer Nair, Prasoon Garg and Pramod Cheruvalath have produced the series under the banners of Team Applause and Sign of Life Productions.
Rudhraavelu has composed music for the second season while Raja K Bakthvatchalam has cranked the camera. Rajaraman and K Dhanasekar have handled editing for the project which has story penned by director Arun himself.
