While Ayushmann Khurrana's Thamma and Aneet Padda's Shakti Shalini are the talk of B-Town, there's another film from MHCU that is slowly gaining people's interest. That movie is Chamunda, which is reported to feature Alia Bhatt in the lead role. But is Alia Bhatt really in the lead role - is the big question on people's minds. This question is here after Kiara Advani was replaced by Shakti Shalini after her name was associated with the project for the longest time. Amar Kaushik, who is actively involved in MHCU, including Thamma, has finally spoken about it in a recent interview. Here's what he said...
Amar Kaushik was asked about Alia Bhatt's involvement in Chamunda. The filmmaker confirmed to Filmfare that the casting for the film has not yet happened. "When it happens, everyone will know. I am not denying or accepting anything right now. Everything is on the timeline. We only focus on the story and think about the casting later. We don't write the script or story based on the cast. Thankfully, that does not happen here," the filmmaker stated.

Alia Bhatt is currently working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love And War. She is also roped in for YRF's Spy Universe film Alpha, which is expected to be the next film she would begin work for. If that is the case, then the actress might not be able to meet Chamunda's release timeline in 2026. Thus, there's only 50-50 chance of her being part of the MHCU film at this point in time.
Bhediya 2 has become one of the biggest talking points after Bhediya vs Betaal in Thamma. Of course, Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 3 also remains the most awaited in the franchise. Munjya also gets a new chapter - Maha Munjya - before the ultimate Mahayudh takes place in Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.
Q: What is Thamma?
A: Thamma is the latest instalment in Maddock Films' successful horror-comedy franchise, which includes hit films like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya. It is described as a "Genesis film" that expands the established cinematic universe.
Q: Who stars in the cast of Thamma?
A: The film features a high-profile cast, including Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Q: What kind of character does Ayushmann Khurrana play in Thamma?
A: Ayushmann Khurrana plays a Betal (a vampiric spirit from Indian folklore). He specifically refers to his character as the "Sarvasrisht Betal — the supreme one."
