One of the pre-requisites that director Hemanth M Rao demanded of his leading man Rakshit Shetty for Sapta Sagaradaache Ello was a physical change for the second half of the story. Rakshit would have to be far more heavier-set than he usually is, for a part of the tale that is set 10 years later. Audiences got an idea of how the actor would look when he began venturing out to promote 777 Charlie with that heavier look and closely cropped hair. At the time, though, no one knew what exactly would require him to sport such a drastically different look. But now that Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side A is out and Side B is only days away from hitting screens, we know better.

This is the look that Rakshit sports after spending 10 years in prison for a hit-and-run resulting in death that he took upon himself to save someone else. Rakshit’s co-star Rukmini Vasanth, who plays his love interest Priya in the film, adds that his transformation for Side B was not only physical. Speaking to the Kannada digital publication Kannada Pichhar, she said that putting on weight and changing one’s hairstyle is a lot easier than what Rakshit has done for his role as Manu. The biggest change, she says, is in his eyes, which reflect the rage, pain and every emotion that his character is going through at that point. “The biggest difference between the Manu of Side A and Side B is in his eyes and he’s treated each version of his character differently. If audiences have been impressed by his performance in Side A, they will be even more taken in with Side B,” she says.

Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B is set to release in theatres in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam on November 17. The film, which has music by Charan Raj and cinematography by Advaitha Gurumurthy, also stars Chaithra J Achar, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Ramesh Indira, Yamuna Srinidhi and Achyuth Kumar, among others. The digital rights of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello rest with Amazon Prime Video, where Side A dropped within a month of its release. Side B is also expected to follow suit with a similar time frame.
