It's official: Karthi's action flick Sardar and Sivakarthikeyan's comic caper Prince to release on the same day

Karthi's Sardar and Sivakarthikeyan's Prince were planned as Deepavali releases a while ago, though makers of both the projects never came up with an announcement of their release dates. The team of the latter informed the other day that they are arriving on October 21.

Since then, all eyes were on the makers of Karthi-starrer. Yesterday, team Sardar, too, announced their arrival on the same day. This is the second time the films of the two stars are having a box office clash. Karthi's Thambi and Siva's Hero released on the same day in 2019. 

Interestingly, both Sardar and Prince will be released in Telugu as well. Karthi enjoys a good market in Tollywood, and the film's genre, too, suits the nativity aspect of Telugu audience. The movie directed by PS Mithran has the star playing dual roles in it. 

Billed as an action thriller, its story revolves around a father-son relationship. Chunky Pandey plays the antagonist in the movie which has Rajisha Vijayan and Raashi Khanna essaying female leads in it. GV Prakash's music and Dhilip Subbarayan's action scenes are expected to be major highlights of the film. Sardar is Karthi's third film this year after Viruman and Ponniyin Selvan. 

On the other hand, Prince has been helmed by Tollywood filmmaker Anudeep, who shot to fame with his film Jathi Ratnalu, which went on to become one of the profitable Telugu movies in 2021. Ukrainian actress Maria Riaboshapka plays the female lead in Prince, which is tipped as a travel-based flick with ample dose of comedy. 

Sathyaraj and Premgi Amaren are others who will be seen in important roles in the movie. The movie is billed as Siva's ticket to stardom in Tollywood and is his first simultaneous Telugu release. It is his second outing in 2022 after Don.
