There were unconfirmed reports that filmmaker Mysskin is likely to play the antagonist in Sivakarthikeyan's film under Madonne Ashwin's direction. The project was then tentatively titled as SK 22. The makers announced the movie's name as Maveeran recently and unveiled a promo video as well.
Aditi Shankar, who made her acting debut with the yet-to-be released film Viruman, has been roped in to play the female lead in the movie. The team has now officially confirmed that Mysskin is indeed a part of the project. The social media handle of the production house has informed the same, leaving fans of both Siva and Mysskin elated.
Vidhu Ayyanna and Philomin Raj are in charge of cinematography and editing respectively for the film which has Bharath Shankar composing music. It's after a long time that a Sivakarthikeyan-starrer is made without either Imman or Anirudh as its musician.
Senior actress Saritha is another artist who has been brought on board by the team. There are reports of veteran comedian Goundamani, too, being a part of its cast, but film buffs have to wait till an official announcement is made.
Mysskin is gearing up for the release of his horror flick Pisasu 2 which is likely to release towards August end. On the other hand, Siva, who was last seen in Don, is arriving with Prince as a Deepavali release in October.
Maveeran, which will be released in Telugu as Mahaveerudu, is slated for a theatrical release for summer 2023. Phoenix Prabhu and Kumar Gangappan are helming stunt choreography and art direction for the movie. The film marks director Madonne Ashwin's sophomore project after Mandela which won two National Awards recently for Best Dialogues and Best Debut Director.
