It's official: Rajinikanth, Nelson Dilipkumar team up for #Thalaivar169; Anirudh to compose music

And it's official! After months of speculation, it is now officially confirmed that Rajinikanth is joining hands with Nelson Dilipkumar for his next outing. The director, who last directed Doctor (streaming on Netflix), is currently awaiting the release of Beast, which is expected to hit the screens on April 14. 

Rajinikanth's previous project, Annaatthe (streaming on Netflix), which was directed by Siva, opened to mixed response, and hence, fans of the star are eagerly awaiting his next movie. There are news doing the rounds that the movie's shooting will commence in April. 

Sun Pictures, which is producing the film, took to their Twitter handle to announce the news on the project. Tentatively titled Thalaivar 169, Anirudh has been roped in to compose music for the project. This is the young composer's third film with the Superstar after Petta (streaming on Netflix) and Darbar (streaming on Amazon Prime Video).  

The production house also released a one-minute video which begins with Nelson and Anirudh, dressed in black attire, posing stylishly for a photo. After a few seconds, the camera moves towards a goggles and the person who holds it. 

With a pulsating background score, Rajinikanth is seen sitting stylishly on a chair, sporting a black attire and goggles. He looks up and flashes his trademark smile, leaving his fans excited. Unlike his recent outings, he is seen sporting a white beard and moustache.

Rajinikanth was expected to do a film under Desingh Periyasamy's direction, which was supposed to be produced by AGS Productions. However, we hear that the project didn't take off due to budget issues. It is yet to be known if the star's next outing will have Desingh at the helm.
