As expected by many, the Telugu song Naaatu Naatu from director SS Rajamaouli's global hit RRR will be performed at the 95th edition of the Oscars on March 12. The Academy announced that singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava will perform the song live on stage. The Oscar event is set to take place on March 12.
The news comes at a time when RRR is making waves across the world in the run-up to the big awards show. RRR's star Ram Charan is already in America doing everything to maximise awareness about the movie. He has been going on popular television shows in the US and sharing his experience of receiving such unprecedented love and admiration from movie-going audiences worldwide.
In what could be described as a further boost to the morale of the cast and crew of RRR, the film bagged four top awards at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards. It won awards for Best International Film, Best Action Film, Best Stunts, and Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu. Charan also presented the HCA Award for Best Voice or Motion Capture Performance along with Hollywood actor Anjali Bhimani, known for her role in Ms Marvel.
Charan was joined by Rajamouli, composer MM Keeravani and other members of the film's crew to receive the HCA Awards. Tollywood superstar Jr NTR, however, was missing at the awards. He's expected to join the team at the Oscars.
Written by Chandrabose, Naatu Naatu first went viral thanks to the electrifying dance performances by Tarak and Charan. The duo's movements were in so sync with each other that they captured the imagination of people in every part of the world. The song hit a new height when it won the Golden Globes and received an Oscar nomination.
It remains to be seen whether Jr NTR and Ram Charan will also perform their world-famous hook step at the Oscars.
