The much-awaited release date of Superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer is here. The action entertainer, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, will hit screens on August 10. Sun Pictures, which is bankrolling the film, made the announcement today and dropped a glimpse of the power-packed film.

In the glimpse, Rajinikanth is seen getting down from his car in his usual stylish manner, while we get a sneak peek of all the other actors. Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Mohanlal and Sunil are seen in mass avatars.  While the film marks Shiva Rajkumar's debut in Tamil, Jailer marks Jackie Shroff's comeback after Bigil.

The film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Tamanaah, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, Redin Kingsley, Vinayakan, Jaffer Sadiq, to name a few. Ramya Krishnan, too, is teaming up with Rajinikanth after two long decades. The last time they had worked together was in Padayappa.

Rajinikanth will be playing a jailer named Muthuvel Pandian and his mass character introduction has already won many hearts.The glimpse was released on the occasion of Superstar Rajinikanth's birthday (December 12) and it had instantly set the internet on fire.

 This is also the maiden collaboration between Nelson Dilipkumar, who had earlier made films like Kolamavu Kokila, Doctor and Beast. The shoot for Jailer was held across various locations across the country, Chennai, Cuddalore, Hyderabad, Mangalore, Bangalore, Kochi and Rajasthan.

Music is by Anirudh Ravichander (marking his third collaboration with the Superstar after Petta and Darbar), cinematography is by Vijay Karthik Kannan and editing is by R Nirmal. Jailer is Rajinikanth's 169th film. He was last seen in Siruthai Siva's Annaaththe, which failed to set to the cash registers ringing at the box office.
