Ajay Gnanamuthu's Cobra, which has been in the making for a while, is finally releasing in theatres. The movie, which was supposed to arrive on August 11, was postponed owing to delay in post-production works. The makers have now officially announced that the action thriller will release on August 31.
Interestingly, Karthi's Viruman, which was supposed to release on August 31, has been preponed to August 12. Cobra is Vikram's first theatrical release in the pandemic era. His last outing, Mahaan, which skipped theatres, had a direct release on Amazon Prime Video earlier this year.
The last theatrical release of the actor was Kadaram Kondan which hit the screens in 2019. S Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio has bankrolled Cobra which has former cricketer Irfan Pathan making his acting debut. Srinidhi Shetty, Roshan Mathew, Mirnalini Ravi and KS Ravikumar among others essay important characters in the project.
The revenge thriller revolves around a veteran mathematician who takes on a few criminals after the latter destroyed his family life, happiness and peace. AR Rahman's music is said to be one of the highlights of the movie.
Harish Kannan and Bhuvan Srinivasan have handled cinematography and editing respectively for Cobra, the theatrical rights of which has been bagged by Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies. Dhilip Subbarayan has choreographed action scenes of the film and Sathish Krishnan has composed dance moves.
The audio launch of the project which was held a month ago hit the headlines, thanks to the first public appearance of Vikram after rumours did the rounds about him facing a heart attack. His presence at the event made his fans happy and he had taken pot shots at a few media portals for their irresponsible reporting on his health.
