Actor Jai joins the league of Kollywood heroes who chose to don the greasepaint to play an antagonist. He was recently in the news for turning a music composer with Susienthiran's action drama Shiva Shivaa, in which he plays the lead, too. He will be seen as a villain in Badri's Pattampoochi which has Sundar C essaying the protagonist.
Sundar and Jai will be seen portraying a cop and a psychopath respectively in the film which has Mollywood actress Honey Rose playing the female lead. Apparently, the story of the project is set in the 1980s.
According to a report in TOI, the team has shot the movie in Pondicherry and Karaikkal for more than 60 days. As per the makers, Pattampoochi will be a battle between brain and brawn. Prem and Kicha have handled the movie's art direction and cinematography respectively.
Sundar C was seen playing a cop last time in Iruttu (streaming on MX Player) which released in 2019. The makers said that Jai, who wasn't keen on playing an antagonist, agreed to don the role after he was impressed with the script and his character.
Honey Rose, who was seen in a notable role in Jiiva's decade-old Singam Puli (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), plays a journalist in the movie. Her character gets caught in between the roles played by Sundar C and Jai.
According to Badri, the biggest challenge while shooting for the movie was to maintain the authenticity with regard to the time period in which the story is set. He also added that Jai had to undergo a lot of difficulties physically while depicting his character.
