Jailer, the 2023 blockbuster, marked the first onscreen collaboration of superstar Rajinikanth and popular director Nelson Dilipkumar. The movie, which broke many box office records of Tamil cinema, earned great reviews from both the audiences and critics with its excellent making and stellar performances. Later, in some of his interviews, director Nelson confirmed that Jailer might get a sequel if he succeeds in cracking an interesting idea. However, the latest reports suggest that the Rajinikanth-starrer is indeed getting a Part 2.

Nelson Dilipkumar begins scripting of Jailer 2

According to the recent updates by the leading Tamil media, director Nelson Dilipkumar has finally cracked an exciting idea for the Jailer sequel. If the reports are to be believed, the filmmaker already narrated the one-line story of the second part to leading man Rajinikanth. The superstar, who is highly impressed with the storyline, has already given the green signal to the project.

The grapevine suggests that Nelson has already kickstarted the scripting of his ambitious project.

Meanwhile, production banner Sun Pictures dropped a major hint on the same by finally revealing the making video of the much-loved truck fight scene from Jailer, on social media. “Witness how the epic truck flip scene from #Jailer was shot!” reads the Twitter post of the prestigious banner.

Jailer 2 to start rolling after Rajinikanth wraps up Thalaivar 171?

Earlier, it was reported that Rajinikanth is planning to team up with supremely talented director Mari Selvaraj, immediately after wrapping up Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Thalaivar 171. However, the latest updates suggest that the movie, which is tentatively titled Thalaivar 172, will only go on floors after the superstar completes Nelson’s Jailer 2.

In that case, it is safe to assume that the highly anticipated project might go on floors by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. The Jailer cast, including Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, and superstars Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar, who made cameo appearances, are also expected to be a part of the sequel. Anirudh Ravichander is also expected to reunite with Rajinikanth and director Nelson for the project.
