When Sun Pictures announced on Thursday evening that they are coming up with a surprise for movie buffs on Friday morning, little did fans of Rajinikanth expect that it would be something related to the Superstar's next project. However, the star's PRO left a hint to fans with a tweet of his which featured emojis.

This made Thalaivar fans wait with bated breath till the announcement came from the production house. The project which was tentatively titled Thalaivar 169 till yesterday, will henceforth be known as Jailer. It is heard that Rajinikanth is playing a jail warder in the movie and hence the title.

A few Kollywood celebs, fans of the star and other movie lovers took to Twitter to celebrate the title announcement. They expressed their excitement and have pinned high hopes on director Nelson Dilipkumar despite his last outing not meeting expectations from the audience. Rajini's previous project, too, opened to mixed reviews, and hence, Jailer's success is crucial for the actor-director duo.

Directors Karthik Subbaraj, Desingh Periyasamy and Arunraja Kamaraj, screenplay writer Rathnakumar, art director Kiran, dance choreographer Sathish Krishnan, actors Kalaiyarasan, Sathish and Vivek Prasanna were a few celebs who went gaga over the title announcement.

Anirudh has been roped in to compose music for the movie. Fans who are celebrating the occasion are also eagerly waiting for an update from makers regarding its shooting and plans pertaining to release date. The team is yet to announce the film's cast and crew as well, despite various speculation doing the rounds.

Many fans of Vijay, who are disappointed with Nelson for the mixed reviews of Beast, too, took to Twitter to wish the filmmaker and Jailer team a huge success.
