Jailer: The release of Superstar Rajinikanth's film in Kerala has a connection with Thalapathy Vijay's Leo

We had reported a few days ago that Leo's theatrical rights in Kerala have been bought by veteran producer-distributor Gokulam Gopalan. Though a few others were also keen to acquire the rights of the much-awaited Vijay-starrer, he offered a record price and closed the deal.

It is said to be the biggest amount offered for a non-Malayalam movie in the state. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial should collect more than his previous outing Vikram which is currently the highest grossing Tamil film in Kerala to attain breakeven. Leo is expected to take a gargantuan opening there considering the popularity of Vijay and speculation of the project being part of LCU.

The next big release in Tamil which is evoking interest among Kerala audience is Rajinikanth's Jailer which will hit screens on August 10. One of the reasons many are looking forward to the action drama is because of the presence of Mohanal in a cameo in it.

A trusted source has confirmed that Gopalan has now bought the theatrical rights of this movie as well. The movie has been sold for a huge sum; it is only next to 2.0 among Rajini's films.  

With the veteran producer having bagged two important Tamil movies of the year, it is interesting to see how he is going to promote the projects in Kerala. While Jailer is touted as the comeback of the Superstar and director Nelson, Leo is expected to take Vijay and Lokesh to the next level in their careers.

The first single of Jailer is expected to be out this month; makers announced recently that they wrapped up its shooting. Leo has a few more portions to complete before the team begins on its post production.
