Indrans and Urvashi, two well-known Malayalam actors, have important roles in the upcoming film Jaladhara Pump Set Since 1962, the new comedy-drama scheduled to release on August 11. In a recent interview, Urvashi revealed that she was initially offered the role of the female lead in a movie alongside Indrans.
Urvashi discussed with a YouTube channel about her involvement in the movie titled Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, wherein she was set to play the lead role with Indrans. However, due to her pregnancy, she had to step down from the project. The film eventually went through changes and became a different project four years later. Although the story differed from the original, the second half remained largely the same.
Speaking about the character of Indrans, Urvashi added, "Some people had raised doubts about the casting of Indrans in Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum as my pair. But I was sure that he was most suitable for that character as he had the experience of essaying rural characters."
Previously, Sajeev Pazhoor, the writer of Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum said he planned the film as a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual starring Indrans and Urvashi. However, the cast changed, and Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu took over the roles originally intended for Urvashi and Indrans. Additionally, Urvashi was initially offered a part in Rojin Thomas' Home, an OTT release, but was unable to accept the role.
Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum was one of the commercial hits in the year 2017. Helmed by Dileesh Pothan, known for films like Maheshinte Prathikaram and Joji, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum was well-received among critics also. The film revolves around a couple in Kasargode and a thief who steals their gold chain. Although treated like a procedural drama, the movie is entertaining because of its hilarious situations. Along with Nimisha and Suraj, the film also featured Fahadh Faasil, Alencier Ley Lopez, and many new faces. The film won three National Awards including the Best Feature Film in Malayalam.
