Jalsa, a drama thriller starring Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah, will premiere on Prime Video on March 18 worldwide. The film is co-produced by T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment and directed by Suresh Triveni of Tumhari Sulu fame. According to the streamer, Jalsa is a very fascinating and captivating tale of conflict, as seen through the eyes of a top-line journalist (Vidya) and her cook (Shefali).

Manish Menghani, Amazon Prime Video's head of content licensing, said the team looks for "authenticity and freshness" when choosing stories, and Jalsa has both. On Monday, Menghani issued a statement stating that stories that are nuanced and go beyond traditional storytelling are gaining popularity around the world. He called Jalsa a unique plot with a superb blend of drama and thrills, bolstered by stellar performances from a talented cast.

Following films like Chhorii, Durgamati, Ram Setu, and the hit Amazon Original series Breathe, this is the seventh partnership between Prime Video and Abundantia Entertainment. It's Prime Video's third collaboration with Balan, following Shakuntala Devi and Sherni.

The foundation of what Abundantia Entertainment produces, according to Vikram Malhotra, founder and CEO of the production company, is impactful storytelling combined with entertaining entertainment. He said that with Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah, two of today's finest actors, Suresh has braided Jalsa into a superb narrative of complicated emotions, well-etched characters, and a captivating pace.

Malhotra is also thrilled to continue our great connection with Prime Video, which began with Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, and Chhorii, and he is looking forward to the global premiere of Jalsa across 240 countries and territories.

Bhushan Kumar, T-Series Chairman and Managing Director, said he's excited for Jalsa to premiere on Prime Video because it will allow the film to "reach a truly global audience as it properly deserves." He also shared that Jalsa is one of the most riveting and enjoyable films they've worked on at T-Series, and he's happy that it's being produced by one of their most trusted partners, Abundantia Entertainment.
