Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah shared two new stills of their Jalsa characters Maya and Rukshana, respectively, ahead of the Amazon Prime Original film's release this Friday.
In the images shared by Balan, her character, a journalist, seems to be in a sombre mood and lost in her own thoughts. Meanwhile, Shah's character, who is Maya's house help, is shades of pensive and shocked in both pictures.
Jalsa follows a tale of conflict, lies and revelations after a life-altering accident. The key characters are a top journalist and her house help.
Also part of the cast are Vidharthi Bandi, Rohini Hattangadi, Manav Kaul, Iqbal Khan, Srikant Mohan, Shafeen Patel and Surya Kasibhatla.
Directed by Suresh Triveni, who has previously worked with Balan on Tumhari Sulu, the film is jointly produced by T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment.
Jalsa is Balan's second collaboration with the streamer after the biopic Shakuntala Devi and the thriller Sherni.
Triveni had recently spoken about bringing Balan and Shah together in his film: "I like making films because I get an opportunity to work with brilliant actors. Vidya, after working on Tumhari Sulu, I knew that working with her, you are spoilt, and you want to go back to her with another film. So that was one single motive. The second was after I watched Delhi Crime, and of course, I’ve been following Shefali’s work for some time. I was just too greedy and then I thought, this idea came that, what if I bring these two together?"
Jalsa releases on March 18.
