Jana Nayagan ‘First Roar’ out for Vijay’s birthday: Glimpse strongly cements actor as people leader

Much anticipations are on Jana Nayagan, the upcoming Tamil film starring Vijay. And as fans waited with bated breath, the one last time of a Vijay film update has dropped. The makers of Jana Nayagan released the ‘First Roar’ on social media as the clock struck 12 am, celebrating Vijay’s 51stbirthday on Sunday, in style, mass and class.

Actor Vijay needs no introduction. He, who is on the peak of his acting career, had announced last year that he will be quitting films to concentrate on full-time politics. With that, his farewell film will be Jana Nayagan directed by H Vinoth.

On Sunday midnight, the makers of the film released the ‘First Roar’ to celebrate Vijay’s 51st birthday. The First Roar video begins with Vijay's most said line during his speeches, 'En nenjil kudi irukum', as the screen shares the line 'A true leader rises not for power, but for the people. We see a burning site, as he is introduced walking with a sword on his hand, and dressed as a cop. His cop reminds one of Mersal, while there is also a resemblance of Nandamuri Balakrishna from Bhagavanth Kesari. Earlier, the posters released of the film also showed Vijay as a people’s leader, concurring his political personality as well.

Not much about the plot of the film have been revealed, but reports strongly suggest that it is a remake of Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari. The makers have not denied or confirmed the speculations.

What do we know about Jana Nayagan so far?

Apart from Vijay, the film also features other known faces and actors across Indian including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, and others. It marks the first time Vinoth is working with Vijay and second collaboration between the actor and Pooja Hegde after the 2022 film Beast.

Jana Nayagan is produced by KVN Productions with music scored by Anirudh Ravichander, who has worked in Vijay’s Beast, Leo, and Master. Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film which is set for a theatrical release on January 9, 2026, after getting postponed from October this year. The new release date, which is closer to the 2026 elections, will be an added advantage for Vijay who is set to contest.
