Jana Nayagan update: New poster ft Thalapathy Vijay as fierce cop out

Jana Nayagan update is finally here! As the clock struck midnight, the makers of Vijay’s upcoming film released the title glimpse of the actor’s character as a fierce cop. Following up with this, a character poster was also released, which features Vijay in khaki uniform.

Jana Nayagan update: New poster out

Actor Vijay’s next film Jana Nayagan is one of the anticipated Tamil films. First scheduled to release in October, the makers shifted it to January next year. To celebrate Vijay’s birthday on Sunday, the makers released a glimpse of his character and followed up with a poster.

The poster shows Vijay in police uniform as he wields a sword and sports an intense look. Vijay has earlier played a cops and vigilantes in films like Theri, Thuppaki and Pokkiri.

Jana Nayagan poster and video heavily hints that the film will be a remake of Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari starring Nandamuri Balakrishna. The film, which is directed by Anil Ravipudi, is a blockbuster drama about a former cop becoming a guardian to his friend’s daughter. Earlier, there were reports that Vijay had watched the film five times and had wanted to remake it. However, the makers of Jana Nayagan have not confirmed or denied the allegations. The film is directed by H Vinoth.

Jana Nayagan is produced by KVN Productions with music scored by Anirudh Ravichander, who has worked in Vijay’s Beast, Leo, and Master. Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film which is set for a theatrical release on January 9, 2026. The cast of Jana Nayagan includes Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Priyamani, Gautham Menon and others.

Jana Nayagan will be Vijay’s farewell film, who earlier announced that he will retire from acting to concentrate on full-time politics. Fans are eagerly expecting the release of the film, which comes just a few months before the 2026 elections.
