For the first and last time, a glimpse from a Vijay film has been released. Celebrating the occasion of the actor’s birthday on Sunday, the makers of his next film Jana Nayagan, released the ‘First Roar’ video on social media. The video shows Vijay in his massy avatar as a cop, as he twitches his moustache and appears powerful onscreen. Ever since the release, fans have been celebrating their favourite star onscreen, and sharing their thoughts on social media.

Jana Nayagan is an upcoming Tamil film which will feature Vijay in the lead role. Directed by H Vinoth, the film will mark Vijay’s farewell project before he gears up to contest in the 2026 elections. To celebrate the actor’s birthday that falls on June 22, the makers released a new glimpse called ‘First Roar’ which gave a peak into Vijay’s character.

Ever since the release at midnight, fans have been raving about the onscreen presence of Vijay, who seems to be playing a cop in Jana Nayagan. While fans have ben raving about Vijay's looks and aura onscreen, some even pointed out the middling background score by Anirudh Ravichander. Here are a few reactions by fans on X.

While there have been speculations that Jana Nayagan is a remake of Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, the glimpse almost confirms the rumour even as the makers have remained tight-lipped. Fans have also been drawing similarities between the glimpse of Jana Nayagan and the Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer.

What do we know about Jana Nayagan so far?

Jana Nayagan is headlined by Vijay in his 69thfilm and marks his first time working with H Vinoth who has done three films with Ajith before. The cast of Jana Nayagan also includes Beast actor Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, and others.

KVN Productions is producing Jana Nayagan which is set to hit theatres on January 9, 2026, right before the elections. The music is scored by Anirudh Ravichander and Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film.
