Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi’s upcoming film, Janaki V vs State Of Kerala, is slated to hit theatres on July 17, 2025, after finally getting the nod from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) last week. Ahead of the film's release, the makers have unveiled the trailer, which shows Janaki (Anupama Parmeswaran)’s fight for justice.
The trailer of the 2025 Malayalam film Janaki V vs State Of Kerala begins with the character of Janaki, who is seen as a spirited young woman, enjoying her life with her friends and having a blast.
But soon the trailer sheds its vibrant tone to give us tense scenes of protests and cops. We also see a glimpse of Madhav Suresh. Anupama Parmeswaran is seen distraught but she calmly says that she has nothing to hide. Suresh Gopi as advocate David soon makes an entry with his fiery dialogues, as he vows to bring the culprits to justice. Police, politicians, the press and even a priest take over the screens, as more tense scenes follow. A voiceover says that Janaki has to get justice at any cost. The final moments of the trailer feature gripping scenes as the advocate declares that her voice needs to be heard now. The trailer ends with a court personnel calling PW1 Janaki Vidhyadharan to the court.
The upcoming courtroom drama revolves around Janaki, an assault victim, who seeks justice in the court of law. Suresh Gopi plays the defence lawyer.
The 2025 Malayalam JSK was initially slated to release in theatres on June 27, but had to be postponed after the CBFC did not grant the certificate, objecting to the usage of Janaki in the title. The matter was taken up in court and finally the makers agreed to add the initial V in title and muted the references of Janaki in 7 instances. The controversy has brought widespread attention to the film, which hits theatres on Thursday.
