Upcoming Malayalam movie Janaki vs State of Kerala (JSK) is a special project for both its protagonists Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran. While it marks the former’s first Malayalam film since Garudan that released in November 2023, it’s a comeback movie with Anupama, whose previous movie in the industry was Kurup in 2021.

With the two stars in the lead, the makers of the film, which is a thriller-cum-courtroom drama, has already sold its OTT rights to a leading streaming platform ahead of its theatrical release.

At the film’s audio launch that was held in Kochi on June 16, Pravin had said JSK talks about a relevant subject, “which I believe had to be told”. The director also said that the film, which had gone several script revisions before it went on floors in 2022, is finally ready for release due to its lead actors.

Suresh Gopi: I play a villain in JSK

Suresh Gopi, who plays a lawyer in the movie, said, “The film’s director has already said that it delves into women-centric politics, but I believe it’s a film borne from a woman’s heart. It’s a movie that will definitely tug the hearts of every man who has a daughter, sister and mother. But I play a lawyer in this film who scars a woman’s heart. I am not spoiling the movie for you, but I would like to think that I play a villain in JSK.”

The actor-politician further added that the movie will remind the viewers of many real-life incidents. “From Nirbhaya to Athijeevitha, we have had several incidents where we now look back at our sisters only with tears in our eyes. All of these incidents have to be remembered. This film says court is not where truth triumphs, but proofs. That’s why it’s important that the voice of Janaki should resonate with people,” he concluded.

JSK also has Askar Ali, Shruti Ramachandran, Baiju Santhosh and Madhav Suresh.
