With just a few days to go for the audio launch of Karthi's upcoming film, Japan, the latest we hear is that the film's audio rights have been bagged by Saregama. The music label shared the news on its social media handle and captioned it,"Elated to associate with @DreamWarriorpic and Team #Japan #JapanOnSaregama #FirstSingleComingSoon A @gvprakash musical (sic)."

Japan for Diwali
Japan is billed as Karthi's 25th project and hence, expectations are high from the film. Japan, helmed by Raju Murugan, stars Karthi, Anu Emmanuel, Sunil, Vijay Milton and Bava Chelladurai as part of the star cast. While the music for the film is by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography is by Ravi Varman and editing is by Philomin Raj. The film will also release in Telugu with the same title and the theatrical rights of the Telugu version have been bagged by Annapurna Studios. Japan is bankrolled by SR Prabhu's Dream Warrior Productions.

The quirky teaser of Japan
Going by the teaser, which recently dropped on YouTube, Karthi seems to be playing a robber, who lives it up like a king. He goes on a vacation to exotic locations after each theft and makes the most of his time there. In the meantime, he also gives the police a run for their money. The character is said to be inspired from the real-life robber, Tiruvarur Murugan, who gave the police a tough time but later helped them solve many crimes. Karthi called the character the one that he enjoyed the most in his recent times. He also described Japan as a funny and unpredictable person.

All eyes on Japan
Karthi was last seen in Mani Ratnam's historical fiction Ponniyin Selvan, in which he played the Chola commander and spy Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan. Though the film had an ensemble cast which included Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi and Trisha, Karthi's performance was lauded. Japan will mark his maiden film as lead actor in 2023.
