Karthi has a massive following in Telugu and whenever he does a film, there is a lot of attention that his films garner. Japan was one such film that showcased Karthi in a crazy role. The action drama was released on November 10, 2023, and opened to a very dull word of mouth and the day-one collections are shocking.

As per the latest trade update, Japan has made only a share on only Rs 90 lakhs on day one in Telugu states. This is a shocking low number keeping Karthi's popularity in mind. As the film is carrying a flop talk, the occupancy went down drastically from the evening shows onwards.

As the Diwali long weekend is on, the film should find a few takers but it is unlikely that the collections will improve in the next few days in Telugu. Anu Emmanuel played the female lead in this film which has also taken a very dull start in Tamil Nadu.

As per the news, Japan has made only Rs 11 crore gross in Tamil which is also quite low. In all his interviews, Karthi has revealed that Japan is an experiment where he tried a very dark role for the first time in his career. But sadly, the film has been rejected by the Telugu audience.

The pre-release business was done on a decent note as the Telugu dubbing rights were sold at Rs 6 crore. If the film had taken a good start, crossing the Rs 6 crore mark would have been a cakewalk for the action drama.

But that is not happening as the day-one collections are low and it will be a tough road ahead for Japan to enter the safe zone in Telugu states. Raju Murugan directed this film which has music by GV Prakash. Watch this space for more box office updates on Japan.
