Anu Emmanuel: Japan will be a thoroughly entertaining theatrical experience

Japan is one of the most awaited films in Tamil cinema. Karthi and Anu Emmanuel play the main leads in this film, which is up for release on November 10, 2023. As the film is also being dubbed in Telugu, we spoke to Anu Emmanuel about her role, working with the likes of Karthi, highlights of Japan, and much more. Here is the transcript.

I cannot reveal much about my character in Japan

Anu Emmanuel has teamed up with Karthi for the first time in her career and she is super excited to see how the audience will respond to this crazy film. When asked about her role, Anu says that she cannot reveal much about it as it has been kept as a surprise element for the audience. "I can only say that I play an actress in the film who brings a key change in Karthi's journey in Japan," says Anu.

My track with Karthi will be thoroughly entertaining

Anu Emmanuel says that though she cannot reveal much about the background of her character, her chemistry with Karthi is going to be quite special. "My character will provide a lot of entertainment for the audience and the twist that I bring in will also be special in the film," says Anu.

No one has attempted a subject like Japan before

When asked about the film, Anu says, "A subject like Japan has not been attempted before in the south. It is a crazy film with quirky characters and the biggest of them all is played by Karthi. Japan is a film that should only be watched on the big screen, as it provides a terrific theatrical experience. The subject, action, comedy, and emotion are on another level in Japan".

Karthi is a very supportive actor

Japan features Karthi in a crazy role and when asked about working with him, Anu says, "He plays a dark role in Japan and I am honoured to play the lady love in Karthi's 25th film. Karthi has always been supportive throughout the shoot and helped me understand the art of filmmaking even more. All my scenes with Karthi will be thoroughly entertaining and speaking of his performance, everyone will cheer for his character in the film".

Dream Warrior Pictures went all out for Japan

Anu Emmanuel has high regard for the makers of Japan, Dream Warrior Pictures. When asked about them, the popular actress says, "Japan is a crazy project and it needs a lot of guts to back such a project. The way producer Prabhu and his team did not compromise on the budget and went all out to back such a subject shows how strongly they believed in the film.

Japan's music is quite peppy and when asked Anu to pick one song, she says, "The music and BGM of Japan are one of the backbones of the film. It is very hard to pick a specific number but GV Prakash has breathed life into the film with his compositions and background score".

Raju Murugan's narration will thrill the audience

Anu Emmanuel has high regard for the director, Raju Murugan. Speaking about him, she says, "Raju Sir has come up with a unique subject and to think of such a premise and characters shows his talent. The film's story, characters, and performances will stay with you even after watching the film".

I do not have any dream roles in life

When asked to pick a dream role, Anu confidently says, "I do not have any dream roles. I want to do fun and glamorous roles that have little scope for performance. My goal is to entertain the audience in different roles."
