It is a Jhoome Jo Pathaan moment for Jawan fans! The movie 'Jawan,' which features actor Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, continues to dominate the box office currently. Directed by Atlee, this film hit the theaters on September 7, breaking all records with its historic opening collection of Rs 75 crore in the history of Hindi cinema. As it enters its second week in theaters, 'Jawan' remains strong, earning an impressive Rs 21 crore on its ninth day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
With this achievement, Shah Rukh Khan’s action film has minted Rs 410.88 crore in India theatrically so far. Not only this, but the film has also earned a little over Rs 700 crore globally.
If records of Sacnilk are to be observed, 'Jawan' has already secured the third-highest-grossing position among Hindi releases this year. Taking the top spot is SRK's 'Pathaan,' which amassed an impressive Rs 543.05 crore following its January release. Following closely in the second position is Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2,' which has accumulated Rs 517.06 crore and is still running successfully in theaters.
Interestingly, ‘Jawan’ has created these records despite facing competition from Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2, Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Dream Girl 2, and Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 at the theatres.
What makes Jawan special for Shah Rukh Khan fans?
Before 2023, the last theatrical release of Shah Rukh Khan was in 2018 titled ‘Zero’. It was a critical and commercial failure. Despite the flaws in ‘Zero’, the hardcore SRK fans believed in the actor’s capabilities and were craving to see him on the big screen again.
To fulfill this dream, Shah Rukh Khan’s film arrived in the theatres this year. Beginning the year, Shah Rukh made a smashing entry at the box office with his film Pathaan. It minted over Rs 1,000 crores globally within the months of January and February.
Now, in an attempt to shatter records created by Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan featured in a titular role in Jawan, which just released nine days ago. Soon, SRK plans to tease his fans with the trailer of his upcoming movie ‘Dunki’.
