Jayam Ravi as Raja Raja Chola: The actor looks majestic as the visionary prince in Ponniyin Selvan

Finally, team Ponniyin Selvan has come up with the most-awaited character poster from the film. They have unveiled the majestic poster of Jayam Ravi who is playing Raja Raja Chola, the visionary prince and the architect of the golden era.

Ravi, who is seen bruised and wielding a spear with his right hand, looks perfect in the role of the most important character in the novel penned by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Movie buffs who got a glimpse of Aditya Karikalan, Vanthiyathevan, Nandini and Kundavai in the last few days, have been eagerly waiting for Raja Raja Chola's poster.

As the makers are unveiling its teaser in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam later today, film lovers are hoping that the movie will stay true to the expectations surrounding it. Suriya, Mahesh Babu, Rakshit Shetty, Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal respectively will do the honours from their social media pages.

Kollywood industry is eagerly looking forward to today's event which is likely to be attended by the movie's whole cast and crew. Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies have jointly bankrolled the mammoth project which went on floors in 2019. The first installment of the franchise will be released in theatres on September 30.

Every character that appears in the novel Ponniyin Selvan is intriguing, and hence, cinephiles are eager to know if makers will reveal character posters of other actors as well. Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Parthiban, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, Mohan Raman, Babu Antony, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others have also essayed crucial roles in the movie.

AR Rahman has composed music for the project which has production design helmed by Thota Tharani, editing handled by Sreekar Prasad and cinematography by Ravi Varman. Ponniyin Selvan is Mani Ratnam's return after a four-year hiatus, and fans hope that the filmmaker has left no stone unturned.
