The wait is over! The much-awaited release date of SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence's action entertainer is all set to hit screens for Deepavali. The film's director Karthik Subbaraj made the official announcement on his social media handle.
r He dropped a brand new poster and a promo video in which Raghava Lawrence is seated on a stylish chair in front of a movie hall. When he sets something on fire, those who assembled in front of the theatre run away.
Earlier, the team had shared a stylish teaser in which SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence were seen battling it out against each other. The three-minute promo video features SJ Suryah as a crooked gangster and Raghava Lawrence as a welder-cum-ruffian respectively. Going by the looks of it, it looks like Jigarthanda Double X is set some time between the 60s and 80s.
Music composed by Santhosh Narayanan has been perfectly complementing the scenes and S Thirunavukkarasu's visuals are a treat to watch. Jigarthanda Double X is bankrolled by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam & Kathiresan, and presented by Stone Bench Films.
The film is a sequel to Jigarthanda (2014), which has been a turning point in the career of many. The action comedy starred Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran and Guru Somasundaram. The film bagged two National Film Awards. While Bobby Simha won the Best Supporting Actor, Vivek Harshan bagged the award for the Best Editing. Santhosh Narayan had scored the music for the original as well.
The plot revolves around a short filmmaker who aspires to make a feature film who makes a film about a gangster in Madurai, known as Assault Sethu.
As for the sequel, film buffs are excited to see two powerhouse actors joining hands for the first time. With the film hitting screens on Deepavali, it's time for Karthik Subbaraj fans.
