The makers of thriller flick Jiivi, (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) which was released in 2019, had announced earlier this year that they are coming up with a sequel for the film which was appreciated by critics for its gripping screenplay, convincing performances and effective twists and turns.

After a while, they revealed that the team had completed shooting of Jiivi 2 in less than a month's time. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has now released the trailer of the movie which has been produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions.

The one-and-a-half minute teaser reveals that the story of the sequel will commence exactly from where the first instalment was finished. Jiivi's story revolves around two youngsters who steal money from their neighbour after which they go through unexpected struggles. The decision to rectify their mistake lands them in further troubles.

From the teaser, it looks like makers are keen on providing an appropriate end to the story and characters of the first instalment in Jiivi 2. Vetri and Karunakaran, who played the lead in Jiivi, have been retained in the sequel, too, along with Rohini and Mime Gopi.

VJ Gopinath is the director for the sequel as well; Praveen Kumar and Praveen KL, who handled cinematography and editing respectively for the first part, have been roped in this time, too. Umesh J Kumar is at the helm of art direction for Jiivi 2.

The first part was one of the engaging and successful Tamil movies made in 2019. Film buffs hope that the sequel will be as intriguing as the first part. Jiivi marked Vetri's second project as an actor; he now has more than half-a-dozen movies in his kitty. Last seen in Vanam, his next release is Jothi, which is slated for a theatrical release on July 28.
