VJ Gopinath's Jiivi 2, which is slated for a direct release on aha Tamil on August 19, is one of the much-awaited sequels of Kollywood this year. Jiivi (streaming on Amazon Prime Video and aha Tamil), which was released in theatres in 2019, was one of the critically acclaimed thrillers of the year, and fans were looking forward to its sequel.

But little did they expect that the second installment would skip theatrical release. Nevertheless, they have pinned high hopes on the movie, which according to makers, will begin exactly from where the first part ended.

The team has now released its trailer which offers a glimpse into the sequel's story that is said to revolve around the consequences its protagonist is likely to face along with his friend after the duo indulged in a theft. The second part includes its lead actors putting their best foot forward to avoid a curse affecting three generations of their family.

Vetri and Karunakaran play lead roles in the film which has Mime Gopi and Rohini among others essaying important characters. Suresh Kamatchi has produced the movie under V House Productions; this is his first venture post the blockbuster hit Maanaadu which was released last year. Jiivi 2 also marks the first OTT release of Vetri.

KS Sundaramurthy and Praveen KL have handled music direction and editing respectively for the project which has cinematography by Praveen Kumar and art direction by Umesh J Kumar.

SJ Suryah has unveiled the movie's trailer and has hinted at a time-loop element in the movie. Interestingly, Maanaadu, the previous outing of producer Suresh which also has Suryah playing an antagonist in it, too, dealt with the intriguing concept of time-loop.
