JioHotstar South Unbound: From Vijay Sethupathi’s Kaattan to third season of Heart Beat, here’s what to expect in Tamil in 2026

JioHotstar unveiled its grand content slate for the south at the event South Unbound, which was held in Chennai on Tuesday. Along with unveiling some interesting tales in Malayalam and Telugu, some interesting web series were also announced in Tamil as well. From the third season of Heart Beat to a new Vijay Sethupathi series, a variety of content was announced. All content on JioHotstar can be watched via OTTplay Premium as well.

South Unbound: JioHotstar unveils a new slate for Tamil:

JioHotstar in its South Unbound event, unveiled its new Tamil south content. The new slate will have some interesting stories coming up. Here is a round up of what to expect;

Lucky- The Super Star, a new show was the first to be announced. The show is directed by Udhay Mahesh of The Family Man fame. The show is expected to surround our dogs. "This is a unique subject and an emotional story between a dog and child. There are more surprises in the show," said the team. It stars GV Prakash in the lead role, along with many known faces.

After this, the announcement on the second season of Good Wife took place with a teaser reveal. Starring Priyamani in the lead role, Good Wife is a legal family drama. The second season will have Priyamani reprising her role, along with actors Aari Arjunan and Sampath Raj. Director Halitha Shameem who returns for the second season said that the show will be further interesting and the writing process is on. "After the first season, I got so much love and support. We look forward for the second season," said Priyamani.

For fans of cricket, the show Love Beyond Wicket has been announced. Starring Vikranth in the lead role, it revolves around a cricket coach and his students. The show is directed by GK, while Vikranth will be making his OTT debut.

A rural drama Kenatha Kaanom starring Yogi Babu was unveiled. It is about the villagers trying to dig a well only to find something amusing and eventually archaeological department taking up the village under their control. Yogi Babu expressed his excitement to be associated with the project, as he remembered late director Suresh Sangaiah who had initiated the film.

Next up is the story of a chef who works at a resort. With elements of comedy, romance, and emotions, Resort is a new title directed by Praveen. It stars Vijay Kumar Rajendran of Eruma Sani fame. The makers said that it is the first time a south content has a resort backdrop.

More Tamil titles in the pipeline:

A story on kabaddi, and the conflict between two teams has been announced. Titled, Lingam, it stars Kathir and Divya Bharathi, Poornima Ravi in the lead roles. It is directed by Lakshmi Saravanakumar. Kathir said that he has done a gangster's biopic, and that the series has much more to explore than just kabaddi. Lingam is based on a story that was once published in a Tamil magazine years ago.

Love Always is a Hotstar Special which revolve around a couple time-travel. It is directed by Madhumitha and stars Jayaprakash, Gouri Kishan and others. Speaking about Love Always, the team said it will be similar to K Drama with Steven from Korea backing the project. Madhumita said that it is about an elder couple who time travel and find their younger selves. It will consist of seven episodes.

A much-loved web series Heart Beat which recently concluded, will be returning for third season. Anumol, Karthik Kumar, and others will be reprising their roles, with Deepak Soundarajan helming the series.

A Vijay Sethupathi show was also announced, which featured the actor in a rural action avatar. Titled Kaataan, the show is directed by Manikandan. "It is a series about life, the philosophy behind it. Manikandan's writing was very different and it was a beautiful experience. I have also produced the series."

There is also a non-fiction project Second Love which will be added to the Tamil content slate. The release dates for these series are yet to be revealed, but are expected to arrive in 2026.
