We've spent the last two years discussing everything about Johnny Depp, from his divorce to his court battles with a tabloid and former wife Amber Heard to his career. But one of the most discussed aspects was what happens to the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise beyond its Jack Sparrow. The indirect answer from the studio came that they are developing not one but multiple spin-offs with no hints of Johnny’s participation. What left everyone surprised even more was that two of those spin-offs would be woman-centric. While Margot Robbie has been in the mix forever, reports now claim another star is being finalized.

The Bear Star Ayo Edebiri Eyed

No, the other star is not being eyed to replace Margot Robbie or star in her film but this is a completely different spin-off that will be headlined by the said star if everything goes right. As per scooper Daniel Richtman (via Comic Book Movie), it seems like the studio is now eyeing a very unexpected star for the spin-off that will be shaped by Chornobyl and Last Of Us creator Craig Mazin and former Pirates writer Ted Elliott. If these reports are to be believed, they are now eyeing a former Thunderbolts and The Bear fame.

Ayo Edebiri, the actor who has been in the headlines for a while now since her exit from Thunderbolts, is said to be the top choice to headline a Pirates Of The Caribbean spin-off by Disney. There is no confirmation on this from either party but the rumor doesn’t even seem impossible because the studio will have to take some very interesting steps to have the audience invest in the world of Pirates without their Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp.

Margot Robbie Still In Talks

Additionally, Daniel Richtman has also shunned rumors that Margot Robbie’s Pirates Of The Caribbean spin-off has been shelved. Adding his twist, he said that the film with the Barbie star in the lead is still on and the work on it will begin at some point. For the uninitiated, the spin-off that has Margot’s name involved is being shaped by Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson. If you look at it, this is an interesting set of people.

Meanwhile, the rumors around the Pirates Franchise have been very wild for the past few months. While Disney has cut all ties with Johnny after he lost the Libel trial, rumors had it that the studio might take him back to play the beloved Jack Sparrow. However, it doesn’t seem to be a very easy possibility. Now as the studio moves ahead with two new spin-offs in case they are, they are definitely moving away from the main timeline.
