With JugJugg Jeeyo, Neetu Kapoor is making her comeback to the big screen after almost ten years. The film also marks the actress’ first acting role after the demise of her husband Rishi Kapoor, who passed away in 2020. The actress recently opened up about how her return to acting became a part of her ‘healing process’.

In a conversation with IANS, Neetu recalled the initial days of her career as a child artist, when she started to work to support her family. Acting at a young age had made her feel very comfortable to be in front of the camera. But after her marriage to Rishi, the actress found herself most happy when spending time with her family. The actress revealed that even though she’d gotten film offers, she had refused them, save for a couple of ‘special appearances’ which she did on her husband’s insistence.

The actress recalled how she had shared the screen with her husband in some of her cameos. Calling her husband her ‘best friend’ Neetu said it was ‘heartbreaking’ to lose him. Saying that she was an actress ‘choice’ now, Neetu said “Now, acting has become a part of my healing process".

The actress said that she wanted to ‘wake up to hope’ and a new day, and added that she wanted to look forward to something as well. JugJugg Jeeyo had come at the right time and given her just that.

JugJugg Jeeyo, directed by Raj Mehta, will be released in theatres on June 24. The film also features Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor.
