JugJugg Jeeyo: Anil Kapoor on his friendship with Neetu Kapoor, recalls how Rishi Kapoor ‘pulled his leg’

JugJugg Jeeyo saw Neetu Kapoor grace the big screen yet again after a gap of almost nine years. The veteran actress shared the screen with Anil Kapoor in the Raj Mehta directorial. Anil recently opened up about the duo’s friendship and recounted some of the delightful memories they shared on sets.

In conversation with ETimes, Anil spoke of how ‘wonderful’ it was to work opposite Neetu in her comeback film. The two had been friends for almost 40 years and the actor recalled how they used to perform scenes from Silsila along with Rima Kapoor. Anil used to play Amitabh Bachchan’s role while Neetu and Rima used to portray Jaya Bachchan and Rekha.

Anil revealed that he shared what they did with Rishi Kapoor and the latter would make the former act out a few scenes whenever possible. Anil spoke of how he worked in production on his father’s film, which Rishi starred in. “He would pull my leg and say, ‘Main set pe nahi aaunga jab tak tu acting karke nahi batayega’ ”, said Anil. Anil talked about how the late actor would also put makeup on the former’s face. Although Anil questioned it at times, he would do whatever Rishi would say.

The actor also opened up about how they used to celebrate festivals and birthdays together on the JugJugg Jeeyo sets as well. Talking about how much ‘love’ there was on the sets, and had nothing but good things to say of his co-stars. He said Varun Dhawan was ‘dedicated and hardworking’, and remarked how grounded Kiara Advani was as well.
