The makers of the Malayalam upcoming film, Junior, has dropped its first poster today (June 15). It has been confirmed that the film, which is directed by Manu Ashokan, is a campus based story.

Manu Ashokan's Junior first poster

The cast of the movie has not been disclosed in the most recent update, but it has been revealed that the campus-based story would primarily star newcomers. "Before the sets rise…Before the camera rolls…Before the first “action” echoes on set…A story has already taken shape — on paper, in vision, and in soul. I’m thrilled to reveal the announcement poster of my next directorial film," wrote Manu Ashokan on social media sharing the first poster. 

Bobby and Sanjay has penned the screenplay for the movie, which is bankrolled by Venu Gopalakrishnan and T R Shamsudheen. Bobby and Sanjay are known for their films such as Mumbai Police, How Old Are You, and Innale Vare. The duo has also written the script for Manu's prior films, Uyare and Kaanekkaane. The story has been created by Anjana Nair. Filmmakers like Jis Joy also shared the poster commenting, "Can’t wait to bring a fresh wave to Malayalam cinema." Further details on the cast and crew are expected in the coming days.

The young filmmaker made his directorial debut with Uyare, starring Parvathy, Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali in the lead role. Tovino Thomas and Suraj Venjaramoodu played the main parts in Manu Ashokan's second film, Kaanekkane. You can stream the movie on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium.

Eyes, Manu Ashokan's third project, was previously believed to be scheduled for a direct OTT release on Sony LIV. The project, which is billed as an emotional thriller, was supposed to debut on Sony LIV by the second half of 2024, but for some reason it was postponed. Saniya Iyyappan, Dev Mohan, and Shruti Ramachandran play the main parts in this project.
