Kaantha teaser out: Dulquer Salmaan emerges reigning superstar in this period drama with Bhagyashri Borse

It's Dulquer Salmaan's birthday on July 28, 2025, and DQ fans are being treated to glimpses of his upcoming movies, including Kaantha. The Kaantha teaser has just dropped online, giving us a glimpse of the film, which is set to unfold in Madras of the 1950s.

Kaantha is an upcoming film of Dulquer Salmaan, set to release in September 2025. Ahead of the big release, the makers have dropped the teaser. The Kaantha teaser begins with the announcement of the first horror film in Tamil, titled Saantha. 

The teaser then cuts to show a shooting set. We soon see Dulquer as the film star, even as Bhagyashri Borse asks him why he is not on talking terms with Ayya (the character played by Samuthirakani). The teaser then turns more intense with Dulquer's character beginning to call the shots on the film set. From which shot to be filmed to calling cuts, Dulquer's star character reigns supreme. At the end of the teaser, Dulquer declares that the film's title has been changed to Kaantha from Saantha, stating the audience will like it.

The teaser exudes old-world charm with its black-and-white screens, the retro dressing of the actors and cinema halls from the bygone era.

All in all, Kaantha promises to be an engrossing tale of a man as he scales the heights of superstardom in Tamil cinema. The teaser was also released in Telugu. To announce the teaser release, Dulquer had earlier shared a short glimpse on July 27.

Earlier in the day, Dulquer had shared the teaser of Lokah Chapter One: Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen.

Kaantha cast

Filmmaker Selvamani Selvaraj is directing the Tamil-Telugu bilingual film, which is produced by actor Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati who is also among the cast. Bhagyashri Borse, Samuthirakani are also part of the film. Rana was last seen in Rajinikanth-starrer Vettaiyan, where he appeared as the antagonist.
