Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which had a theatrical release a month ago, was one of the much-expected Tamil movies of 2022. The film directed by Vignesh Shivan, though opened to mixed reviews, minted money at the box office. Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha play lead roles in the rom-com which has now dropped on Disney+ Hotstar.

Actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, who bagged the project's theatrical rights in Tamil Nadu, had revealed recently in an interview with a television channel that the movie is a money spinner and went on to become the highest grossing film in Vijay Sethupathi's career.

The makers have now revealed that the film has grossed 66 crores worldwide. The social media handle of Seven Screen Studio, which bankrolled the movie, tweeted, "Post a Super Successful run in theatres grossing over 66Crs worldwide, We are thrilled to announce that #KaathuvakulaRenduKaadhal will now be streaming on @disneyplusHSTam (sic)."

The performances of lead actors apart from Anirudh's background score received unanimous positive response upon release. The film brought together two leading actresses in lead roles after a long time in Tamil. While Nayan and Sethupathi had joined hands earlier two times, Samantha shared screen space with them for the first time.

Post Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, Vignesh Shivan will be directing Ajith in AK 62 (tentative title) under Lyca Productions. The project is expected to go on floors later this year. Nayanthara has O2 releasing next, while Samantha is awaiting the release of Yashoda.

Vijay Sethupathi's next solo release will be the long-delayed Maamanithan. The Seenu Ramasamy directorial will hit the screens on June 24. Before that, he will be seen playing a crucial role in Kamal Haasan's Vikram which will release in different languages on June 3.
