Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal preview: All you need to know about the rom-com starring Nayanthara, Samantha and Vijay Sethupathi

After biggies like Valimai, Etharkkum Thunindhavan, RRR, Beast and KGF: Chapter 2, Tamil cinema is set to witness the arrival of another much-expected movie. Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, directed by Vignesh Shivan, has Nayanthara, Samantha and Vijay Sethupathi playing lead roles in it. 

Billed as a fun-filled rom-com, the movie is said to be a love triangle which involves three characters, Kanmani, Khatija and Rambo. How the trio get to know each other forms the crux of the story. The suspense lies in who Rambo is going to choose among Kanmani and Khatija as his lover.

Why is Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal riding on high expectations?

The film is a multi-starrer to release in Tamil after a long time because of which movie buffs are thoroughly excited. Multi-starrers have often been about two big male stars coming together like in the case of RRR which released recently. Two of the biggest female stars in the south joining hands for a project have garnered the attention of cinephiles ever since their names were announced by the makers.

Though Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara have teamed up earlier for Vignesh's Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (streaming on Jio Cinema) and Ajay Gnanamuthu's Imaikaa Nodigal (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), this is the first time Samantha is acting along with the two of them. The promo videos involving the two actresses are already a rage among their fans.  

What makes Anirudh's contribution to Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal irreplaceable?

Anirudh Ravichander has composed music for the movie which marks his 25th film as a music director. The Vignesh-Anirudh combination has worked wonders for fans of the latter and music lovers earlier, too. The singles Dippam Dappam, Two Two Two and Naan Pizhai from the film are instant chartbusters.

When is Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal hitting the screens?

The movie is releasing on April 28 in Tamil and Telugu; the Telugu version has been titled KRK (Kanmani Rambo Khatija). The OTT release of the film is expected to happen around June. An official confirmation is awaited on the same.

Vijay Sethupathi was last seen in Kadaisi Vivasayi (streaming on SonyLIV), while Nayanthara's previous outing was Annaatthe (streaming on Netflix). Samantha's last outing in Tamil was the acclaimed Super Deluxe (streaming on Netflix.)

Prabhu, Sreesanth and Redin Kingsley among others essay important characters in the movie which has action choreography by Dhilip Subbarayan and cinematography by SR Kathir ISC and Vijay Karthik Kannan.

Sreekar Prasad has edited the film for which Vignesh himself has penned lyrics. Shwetha Sebastian has helmed art direction for the project which has been bankrolled by Seven Screen Studio in association with Rowdy Pictures.
