Chandu Champion is one of the most-awaited sports dramas of 2024. Slated to be released on June 14, 2024, the movie is directed by Kabir Khan and stars Kartik Aaryan as the lead character. With months remaining until the release of the film, the filmmaker has something interesting to say about it. One of them is the similarity that he has drawn between Chandu Champion and 83.

In a chat with casting director Mukesh Chhabra, filmmaker Kabir Khan drew commonalities between Ranveer Singh's 83 and Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion. One is that Kabir Khan had detailed workshops for actors in both films.

Khan said, “I believe in the importance of workshops. I think you must prepare a lot for the films. But after being prepared, you must throw away the preparation (in God’s hands). Don’t carry (the pressure) of preparation to the sets. Let there be new energy on sets. Once you internalise what you have done in the workshop, then you don’t even think about it.”

Once Ranveer Singh internalises the character of Kapil Dev, he doesn't have to look back. When he speaks, he is not thinking about how to speak like Kapil Dev. He has become like Kapil Dev. It's the same with Kartik. During the shoot of Chandu Champion, he doesn't think about how to speak like Murali Kant because he internalised it so much during workshops,” said Khan.

Notably, 83 was a film based on the 1983 Cricket World Cup, in which Ranveer Singh played the role of former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev. Chandu Champion, on the other hand, is an upcoming film based on the life of India’s first paralympic gold medalist, Murlikant Petkar.

Throughout the filming of his movie, Kartik Aaryan shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of his training. After wrapping up the shoot, he celebrated with director Kabir Khan and his team by enjoying Rasmalai.
