Kalamkaval box office collection day 8: The latest Malayalam thriller, Kalamkaval, continues to rake in good collections as it enters its second week at the ticket window. The Mammootty-starrer has gone past Rs 60 crore, according to trade tracker Sacnilk, and has already surpassed the worldwide collection of Rekhachithram, which was the first hit Malayalam film of 2025.

Malayalam actor Mammotty’s latest film Kalamkaval, helmed by Jithin K Jose, has made Rs 64.5 crore in worldwide collections and Rs 27.95 crore in India Malayalam net collections, Sacnilk has reported. This puts Kalamkaval one spot above Rekhachithram, Asif Ali’s first hit film of the year, which made Rs 56.75 crore in worldwide collections and Rs 26.6 crore in India Malayalam collections. Mammootty’s thriller has taken the ninth spot, and relegated Asif Ali’s cop thriller to the 10th position in the top 10 highest-grossing Malayalam films of the year.
On its 8th day at the box office, Kalamkaval made Rs 1.65 crore, taking the overall India collections to ₹ 27.97 crore. Also starring Vinayakan, Kalamkaval released in theatres on December 5, 2025, after getting postponed by a week from its initial release plans of November 27. But that doesn’t seem to have affected the film’s box office performance, with Kalamkaval opening to good positive word of mouth that has ensured consistent footfall.
Dominic and the Ladies Purse OTT release
Kalamkaval has turned out to be a lucky venture of veteran star Mammootty after his first two releases of the year failed to pick up momentum at the box office. Dominic and the Ladies Purse, which was Mammootty’s first release of the year, made only Rs 19.92 crore. The Gautham Vasudeva Menon directorial could not land a digital deal for the longest time and is now set to make its OTT debut on Zee5 via OTTplay Premium on December 19, 2025.
His other release of Bazooka is yet to announce an OTT partner, despite releasing in April 2025. Kalamkaval is reported to head to SonyLiv (also OTTplay Premium) after its theatrical run.
