Kalamkaval censor details out! Mammootty promises much-awaited film to release in theatres soon

Fans have been eagerly waiting for Malayalam megastar Mammootty’s grand return to the big screen. The veteran actor’s much-anticipated film Kalamkaval has completed its censor formalities with Mammootty himself assuring viewers that the movie will be releasing in theatres soon!

Mammootty’s Kalamkaval censored

Kalamkaval is Mammootty’s upcoming Malayalam film, which also features actor Vinayakan in a key role. On October 22, Mammootty took to his social media accounts to share that Kalamkaval has been censored U/A 16+. The actor also shared a new poster which also features Vinayakan along with him. Kalamkaval, which features Mammootty in a negative role, is helmed by Jithin K Jose.

‘Kalamkaval Censored with U/A 16+ Certificate !! In Cinemas Soon,’ the actor wrote in the caption.

Earlier, there were reports that Kalamkaval will hit theatres on November 27, 2025, but with the censor formalities completed, fans are hoping that the film would release much before that.

Mammootty in a negative role in Kalamkaval

In Kalamkaval, Mammootty will be seen as a serial killer, named cyanide Mohan aka Mohan Kumar. Vinayakan, on the other hand, plays a police officer, DSP Francis. Meera Jasmine, Gibin Gopinath, Gayatri Arun, and

Rajisha Vijayan are also part of the upcoming film, touted to be a crime thriller.

The Kalamkaval teaser was released earlier in August, which promised an edgy thriller is on the cards.

Mammotty’s other films

Mammootty, who was away from the limelight due to medical reasons, made his public appearance earlier this month when he rejoined the shoot of Mahesh Narayanan’s Patriot. Mohanlal also plays a key role in the highly anticipated film, which also features Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban.

Kalamkaval would be the third film of Mammootty to release in theatres this year. He starred in Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, that hit theatres in January. He was next seen in Bazooka, which released for Vishu 2025.
