Actor-filmmaker Karu Palaniappan returned to acting with Chandra Thangaraj's Kallan which was released in theatres on March 18. The film which received lukewarm response at the box office is ready for a digital release. V Mathiyazhagan and S Ravichandran have bankrolled the project under the banner of Etcetera Entertainment.
Namo Narayan, Nikita, Maya, Soundhararajan and Vela Ramamoorthy have played important characters in the movie which is billed as a crime drama. Kallan is the second film which has Karu playing the lead after Mandhira Punnagai which had himself at the helm. He was last seen in Natpe Thunai (streaming on Sun NXT and Jio Cinema) in 2019 after a decade-long hiatus.
What's Kallan about?
The project revolves around an uneducated man who hails from a rural family ending up getting arrested by cops after indulging in a few illegal activities. How he plans to escape from the prison forms the movie's plot. The series of unanticipated events that occur in his life after he manages to come out of the jail forms the rest of the story.
MS Prabu and Gopijegatheeswaran have cranked the camera for Kallan which has music composed by K. Na Muthukumar, Yuga Barathi, Gnanakaravel and Chandra Thangaraj have penned lyrics for the movie which has editing by SP Ahamad.
When and where to watch Kallan online?
The film is dropping on Zee5 on May 13; the digital platform announced the same recently. This is one of the few Tamil movies in recent times to have an OTT release before completing a month of its theatrical release.
Dinesh Subbarayan has choreographed action scenes for the film which has art direction and dance choreography by Devaraj and Bobbs respectively. Sugita Thangavelu has helmed the subtitling department for Kallan.
