One of the remarkable changes Tamil cinema witnessed in 2022 is the terrific comeback of legendary Kamal Haasan. His character of a former agent who sets out to destroy a dreaded drug cartel in Vikram which has him playing the titular role left his fans enthralled after a long time.

The movie helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj shattered many existing box office records in Tamil Nadu, and became a trendsetter in different ways. The project was produced by Kamal himself, and his fans are now awaiting its second installment which is expected to go on floors after a year.

At the Film Companion's Filmmakers' Adda session, the veteran actor-filmmaker opened up about the various changes he witnessed in Indian film industry over the years. He spoke briefly about the struggling phase of Bollywood and how distinct every film industry in India is.

He surprised others in the session, including SS Rajamouli, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Gautham Menon and Swapna Dutt, when he suggested movie lovers to watch Hindi and Bengali films before relishing Hollywood flicks. The Ulaganayagan added that many of his inspirations have come from Hindi cinema.

Kamal is currently busy with Shankar's much-hyped project Indian 2 which will release in 2023. The movie, which is being bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, is expected to be followed by him teaming up with Mollywood filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan for an untitled movie.

The likes of Pa Ranjith, Vetri Maaran and H Vinoth are also said to be in queue to direct the veteran star. But one film which his die-hard fans are eagerly looking forward to is his grand reunion with Mani Ratnam.
