Kammattam actor Sudev Nair on Toxic: We still have about a fourth of the film to shoot, but…

Rocking Star Yash fans are waiting with bated breath for the release of his next, the much-talked about Toxic, which was initially announced as an April 10, 2025 theatrical presentation and was then pushed ahead by almost a year to March 19, 2026. The team has made absolutely no revelation about the plot, cast, or the current status, so it came as a bit of relief when one cast member, Sudev Nair, who was a part of the teaser, provided an update.

Sudev Nair: Toxic is a proper international project

Sudev, who will soon be seen in the lead in a new Malayalam investigative thriller series called Kammattam, which will drop on Z5 (and on OTTplay Premium) on September 5, was asked about the Yash-led film directed by Geetu Mohandas. “It’s been more than a year since we began shooting for Toxic. It’s a very large-scale production – a proper international project. Obviously, you need that kind of time to shoot a film like that, given the large number of artistes involved. We have almost one-fourth of the film left to be shot, but we are on track for it to be in theatres next March,” said Sudev in conversation with News18 Kerala.

The Thuramukham actor adds that he plays a primary character in Toxic and that he’s present throughout the film. “I’ve witnessed the entire film so far and that’s been a very rewarding experience,” said Sudev, who got the opportunity after working on Toxic choreographer Rajeev Ravi’s directorial Thuramukham. It was on the set of the 2023 Nivin Pauly-led film that Sudev became close to Rajeev and his wife, Geetu, who’d expressed her desire to collaborate with Sudev again.

When Geetu began working on Toxic, though, the character that Sudev eventually got cast for was shopped around for a while with more established and popular actors, but Yash did not find any of them a good fit. Eventually, Geetu broached Sudev and Yash took an immediate liking to the actor. Although not in a position to make any revelation about Toxic, the actor signs off saying that Yash’s film will far exceed audience expectations.

In Kammattam, meanwhile, Sudev plays a police official investigating an unnatural death, which then leads to more dead bodies along the way and a massive bank fraud unfolding. The show is based on a real incident that occurred in Thrissur some time ago.
